The “ISO 50005:2021 Energy management systems – Guidelines for a phased implementation” has been published in English!
Since December 2019, Arqum has been implementing the project “Support for the development, dissemination and anchoring of the ISO 50005 standard” on behalf of the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU). Project partners are prisma consult GmbH, Nathanael Harfst, Dr Ludwig Glatzer and PwC Legal.
At the centre of ISO 50005 is a system for the step-by-step introduction of an energy management system. What is special about ISO 50005 is that companies can choose energy management approaches of varying complexity depending on their needs.
Arqum and its partners played a leading role in the development of the international standard. It is intended to support SMEs in particular in practising energy management without having to go as far as certification according to ISO 50001.
The importance and political relevance of ISO 50005 is demonstrated, among other things, by the fact that it is one of the possible counterparts for the granting of subsidies under the SESTA Carbon Leakage Regulation (BECV).
