In the context of SME sector development in Sri Lanka (a project of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ)), Arqum was commissioned to support small and medium-sized enterprises on their path to energy efficiency. The aim of the project is to train energy experts and auditors on-site in order to allow successful energy efficiency projects to be initiated. The training is held in ten workshops, each with 20-30 companies. The workshops will be moderated by Arqum in cooperation with local energy-efficiency experts.
In addition, energy audits will be carried out for selected companies in order to draw up specific efficiency measures and to train local energy auditors. The competitiveness of the project participants is supposed to be increased by the transfer of know-how and technology. Additionally, through the involvement of two national banks, access to appropriate financing should also be simplified.
